Clink a glass to the holidays with Robertson Wines Ltd cocktail recipe for Blushing Tropical Mimosas. Servings: 4 Prep time: 10 minutes Total time: 10 minutes Ingredients - 1 small jar of glazed cherries - 250 ml pineapple juice - 250 ml fresh orange juice - Grenadine (to taste) - RW Sweet White Sparkling Wine Method - Combine the pineapple and orange juice In a pitcher. - Add a glazed cherry to each glass. - Fill each glass halfway with the juice mixture. - Top off each glass with RW Sweet White Sparkling Wine. - Add a dash of Grenadine to each glass to create a ‘blush’ effect. The extreme heat of 2022 and heavy rains in 2023 posed challenges to South African vineyards, says Tim Atkin MW. He points out, however, that the impact varied by region, making it essential to assess vintages with greater nuance rather than broad generalisations. ‘You need to look within those regions and say... maybe the cooler regions were better,’ says Atkin. South Africa Wine has launched its 2024 Graduate Placement Programme. The initiative connects talented tertiary graduates - particularly Black graduates as defined by BEE codes - with member companies for fixed-term placements of 6-12 months. Kachne Ross, People and Skills Development Manager at South Africa Wine, says, ‘We believe in the transformative power of skills development. By facilitating meaningful placements, we can strengthen the industry’s capacity for innovation.’ In partnership with AgriJobs, South Africa Wine is offering free recruitment services and contributing R5 000 a month to each graduate’s salary. De Krans has unveiled a fresh look for its Classic range, just in time for festive gifting. A beautiful hand-illustrated buffalo has been introduced to De Krans’s branding, paying homage to the farm’s original name ‘Buffelsvallei’, which translates to ‘Buffalo Valley’. On the new labels, talented Stellenbosch-based design partner, GRAFT, brought artist John Pace’s marvellous illustration to life in a modern and minimalist style, complemented by white space and a vibrant pop of colour. As the effects of climate change continue to escalate, the wine industry simply cannot afford to ignore its carbon footprint. Bosman Family Vineyards , Twee Jonge Gezellen and Reyneke Wines are some of our Brand Partners taking the lead to understand, reduce, and communicate their carbon footprint with transparency. - At Bosman Family Vineyards, solar panels generate electricity to power the farm, and instead of pumping water from the nearby river, the vineyards are irrigated using gravity-fed water from their upper reaches. - Vintage after vintage of Krone is stacked in Twee Jonge Gezellen’s cellar and hand-turned in traditional pupitres while the Cap Classique matures on the lees, eliminating the need for electric intervention. - Reyneke engages in biodynamic practices, including composting to boost soil health which reduces greenhouse gases and curbs the methane emissions that come with soil decomposition. On 20 October 2024, we proudly marked 39 years since our founder, Tim Rands, established Vinimark, celebrating an enduring legacy in the South African wine industry and a vision that extends well beyond our borders. Our teams came together at four locations across South Africa, embracing a lively Wild West theme with spirited hoedowns and classic cowboy and cowgirl attire. With photo booths and even a mechanical bull, this occasion allowed our departments to reflect on a year of hard work, collaboration, and commitment to excellence in 2024.
