    Your battery energy storage financial model should clearly show: 1. Your technology lock-in period and risk --> is it better to pay double today for a 10-year warranty/ more cycles (Pro-rata replacement), or can a lower CAPEX mitigate your technology risk at a happy medium and generate a better NPV 2. What is your financial risk associated with end-of-life return and recycling of hazardous materials? Is your current option recyclable? Does it have residual value or residual costs amd what are they? 3. How will you mitigate battery capacity degradation (from 100% down to 60% capacity over the useful term) and how does that impact your battery utility, storage capability and the financial model based on the higher upfront CAPEX? 4.   • Billion Rand Battery Westore Africa plans to establish and manage South Africa's largest privately-owned battery storage facility, representing a significant infrastructure investment in Energy Resilience to the tune of over one billion rand. Located in the Free State near Bloemfontein (Mangaung), this centralised energy storage asset is strategically positioned to capitalize on the concept of energy arbitrage. By storing wheeled energy, the facility aims to buy electricity during periods of low demand (and therefore lower prices) and sell it during peak demand times at higher prices, thus leveraging fluctuations in the electricity market for profit. The operation model of this battery storage facility draws an innovative parallel with the digital world, specifically mirroring the business models of server storage providers like Amazon Web Services. Similar to how these companies rent out server space to third parties for data storage, Westore Africa will contract out battery capacity to various entities. This approach allows for a versatile use of the storage capabilities, catering to a range of clients who require energy storage solutions but do not wish to invest in the infrastructure themselves. By doing so, Westore Africa not only introduces a new utility model into the energy sector but also provides a scalable and flexible solution to energy storage, akin to cloud storage services in the data domain. "We have secured our land parcel, about 30km outside of Bloefontein with existing warehouse space and up to an optional 75 Hectare additional land for solar PV and we will be initiating feasibility and regulatory processes shortly." says Neill Human, founder of Westore.
