🌍 Climate Change and Gender-Based Violence Did you know that 80% of those displaced by climate change are women? In humanitarian crises, 70% of women face gender-based violence. This intersection of crises demands urgent attention. For the first time at #COP29, 74 countries signed the Declaration on Relief, Recovery, and Peace, officially linking climate change and conflict for the first time. This milestone aligns with World Vision's approach to addressing fragility through initiatives like Regreening Communities. Such projects promote natural regeneration, benefiting people and ecosystems while fostering peacebuilding. This alignment opens doors for climate finance to be directed toward fragile zones, creating pathways for peacebuilding and socio-economic transformation. 🌱 As we approach World Soil Day, Let’s advocate for gender-responsive climate action that protects women and girls. #16DaysOfActivism #ClimateJustice #GenderEquality #ClimateResilience #RegreeningCommunities #FMNR UNWomen Wwk COP29 Azerbaijan United Nations McLarence Mandaza, PhD

We’re proud to join forces with World Vision Zambia in launching the #EnoughCampaign, a powerful initiative to end child hunger and malnutrition. According to Zambia's statistics on child hunger and malnutrition, based on data from the Zambia Demographic and Health Survey and other reliable sources: Malnutrition is more severe in rural areas, affecting both girls and boys. 4% of children are classified as wasted (low weight for height). 8 out of every 1,000 births result in child mortality. 26.2% of children suffer from vitamin A deficiency. 58% of children are classified as obese, highlighting the double burden of malnutrition. Together, we’re taking a stand to ensure #EnoughNutritiousFood, #EnoughAction, and #EnoughPoliticalWill, to ensure every child thrives. Let’s make child hunger a thing of the past. 💪🍎 #EndChildHunger #ChildNutritionMatters #TogetherForChange Brian Bwembya Kambani Phiri World Vision Southern Africa World Vision

At World Vision, we are unwavering in our commitment to protecting children and creating spaces where they can thrive. Through collaborative efforts with partners and communities, we have achieved impactful milestones in 2024: 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬: 315 adolescent clubs and initiatives like Children’s Councils and Parliaments have given over 20,000 children a platform to raise their concerns and engage with leaders, driving policy changes such as the enactment of the Children’s Code Act in Lesotho. 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Over 1,170 Child Protection Committees have been established, empowering communities to take ownership of child protection issues. 922 reporting mechanisms were set up to ensure children’s safety, including child-friendly courts in Eswatini that have helped over 200 children testify without fear. 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: In partnership with government departments, 66,000 birth certificates were issued, and 333,000 children were registered. A birth certificate is a vital tool for safeguarding children’s rights, ensuring access to essential services, and protecting them from exploitation. 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬: In Malawi, 536 children were withdrawn from child marriages, with 252 girls re-enrolled in school and others equipped with life skills to build a brighter future. Together, on this commemoration of #WorldChildrensDay let’s renew our commitment to children’s rights and work to create a world where every child is safe, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential. #WorldChildrensDay #CRC35 #ChildRights #All4Children
As we commemorate World Children’s Day, we also reflect on the 35th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Despite progress, the reality for many children remains dire—faced with hunger, exploitation, abuse, and inadequate education. Girls, in particular, are at greater risk, and without urgent action, we risk undoing hard-won progress on gender equality and children's rights. At World Vision, we believe that prioritizing children now is vital for building a sustainable, thriving future. By listening to children, investing in their protection and development, and involving them in decision-making, the returns go beyond financial—they are transformational. On this World Children’s Day, I call on leaders across Africa and beyond to: Prioritise children now: Investing in children today lays the foundation for a brighter tomorrow. Make smart investments: Protecting and nurturing children offers the highest returns for the next generation. Amplify children’s voices: Let’s empower children to actively shape their future. I invite everyone to join us in creating inclusive and safe spaces where children can thrive, lead, and reach their full potential. Together, let’s renew our commitment to the rights of every child and ensure no child is left behind. Let’s act now—for their rights, for their dreams, and for a better world. https://lnkd.in/dniuWzxg #WorldChildrensDay #CRC35 #ChildRights #All4Children #All4Children, #CRC35 World Vision
