Championing Fleet Excellence: The AFP Launch Darius Wyngaardt and the team at Wyngaardt Brokers were proud to be invited to the launch of the South African Association for Fleet Professionals (AFP) at Automechanika Johannesburg Futuroad Expo, proudly hosted by Masterdrive. The event commenced with an inspiring keynote by Eugene Herbert (CEO, Masterdrive), offering an overview of AFP’s mission. At Wyngaardt Brokers, we align closely with initiatives like AFP that drive progress in fleet management, safety and risk mitigation. This initiative plays a vital role in equipping fleet managers with the tools, knowledge, and support structure of professionals needed to implement effective fleet and risk management strategies as well as operational enhancements and driver/vehicle efficiencies. By contributing to this unique cause with a focus on fleet-based professionals, we display our commitment to improving fleet operations, advancing safety standards, and safeguarding invaluable people, and assets through our tailored risk financing, risk mitigation and short-term insurance solutions. The launch began with Eugene outlining the association's manifesto, which centres on professional development, fostering a collaborative community, advocacy and representation, and addressing local challenges to support fleet managers across South Africa. We particularly enjoyed the conversation piece shared by Jonathan Mphake (SBV South Africa, AFP Ambassador), who shared his inspiring journey as the 2022 Best Fleet Manager at the Fleet Safety Awards. His talk, “The Power of Professional Development in Fleet Management”, underscored AFP’s goal of empowering fleet managers and driving excellence in the industry. An engaging panel discussion followed, titled “Data-Driven Fleet Management: A Game Changer - HOW?” This session featured leading voices in the industry, including Clay Colegate (Optix Africa), Justin Manson (Webfleet Solutions), Vishnu Perumalsamy (GEOTAB AFRICA), and Hein Jordt (Ctrack). The panel explored innovative strategies and the transformative impact of leveraging data in fleet management. The launch concluded with a lunch, offering attendees the chance to build relationships with peers and strengthen industry partnerships.
