100MW Concentrated Solar Power Facility in the Northern Cape
About us
Xina Solar One is a 100 MW (130,000 hp) concentrated solar power plant in South Africa. Constructed between 2014 and 2016, the power station was commercially commissioned in 2017. The solar component of this power station is complemented by molten salt thermal storage technology, which allows the power station to provide full power for another 5.5 hours, after the sun goes down, thus supplying energy during South African peak hours. The energy generated here is sold directly to Eskom, the South African national electricity utility company, under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

#FLASHBACKFRIDAY For today's Flashback Friday, we're giving a shout-out to everyone who was involved in making Xina Solar One's Youth Day initiatives such a success. The hard work needed to clean up Boesmanland High's sports grounds and the Pella Food Garden water well were done with smiling faces and positive attitudes. #YouthInAction #SustainableChange #YouthMonth #XinaSolarOne

AN A FOR TEAMWORK 🌟 Honoring the struggles of youth 48 years ago, Xina Solar One celebrated Youth Day with hands-on projects that will realise lasting benefits. Apart from upgrading Boesmanland High's sports fields, the Pella Food Garden's water well was also cleaned of trash, which can cause water contamination. An entire trailer of trash was removed! We would like to give a heartfelt 'thank you' to everyone who was involved and for their hard work and dedication to uplift this community. #SustainableChange #YouthEmpowerment #XinaSolarOne

ACHIEVEING A JUST ENERGY TRANSITION The word ‘just energy transition’ (JET) has become a signature term of the energy generation and renewables sector, but what exactly does it mean? According to Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, the term can be explained like this: ‘Transition’ describes the gradual movement towards lower carbon technologies, while ‘Just’ qualifies that this transition will not negatively impact society, jobs and livelihoods. The Just Energy Transition is important to the country and to our future growth and sustainability as an organisation. #FunFactFriday ##RenewableEnergy #JustEnergyTransition #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #RenewablePower #GreenerFuture
