Out and about experiencing Soweto and learning about South African history. Part of today's outreach included a visit to the Mandela House, situated at 8115 Vilakazi Street in Orlando West which is now a museum. The house was the residence of the renowned figures in South Africa's liberation struggle, Winnie Madikizela Mandela and her husband, Nelson Mandela. #VisitSouthAfrica

Minister of Tourism Patricia De Lille, visited the Hector Pieterson Memorial in Soweto, a poignant reminder of the resilience and courage of South Africa’s youth. Minister of Tourism Patricia De Lille alongside Deputy Minister Makhotso Sotyu Sotyu, and Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero, visited the Soweto Chefs Academy in Kliptown. The Tourism Minister emphasised the importance of diversifying South Africa's tourism offerings. “There’s a perception that South Africa is all about safaris, Table Mountain, and the three big cities,” she noted. Highlighting the efforts of the Soweto Chefs Academy, the Minister expressed how such initiatives provide a unique opportunity to showcase Mzansi’s rich culinary flavours to the world while upskilling and helping create job opportunities for graduates who can open their own businesses. #VisitSouthAfrica

Day two of the Summer Campaign activations kicks off at the Apartheid Museum, with Minister of Tourism Patricia De Lille, Deputy Minister Maggie Sotyu, and Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero addressing 100 youth Tourism Safety Monitors. The Minister has expressed gratitude for the hard work and dedication the monitors have shown since their deployment.
