The legacies of slavery, colonialism, and systemic discrimination continue to shape global inequalities today. Reparatory justice isn’t just about righting historical wrongs—it’s about creating a fairer future for #Africa and its #diaspora. From addressing #climate injustice, the restitution of looted artifacts to addressing systemic inequalities, the #reparations agenda is a call for unity, redress, and transformation. The African Union Theme of the Year 2025 underscores the need to address the lasting effects of colonization, slavery, and systemic discrimination while tackling contemporary challenges. Reparations are at the center of discussions in Addis Ababa, #Ethiopia 🇪🇹, during the ongoing #AUSummit, where African leaders are shaping a unified vision for #Africa and the #Diaspora’s #reparations journey! African Union ECOSOCC is poised to play a key role in bringing this vision to life. At the 36th AU Summit in 2023, AU Heads of State mandated the African Union Commission, in consultation with Member States, ECOSOCC, other AU organs, and the RECs, to establish an African Committee of Experts on Reparations. This committee will develop a Common African Position on Reparations and incorporate an African Reparatory Programme of Action. #ReparationsNow #AUTOTY2025 #38Summit
