About us
Corpus Legal Practitioners is a full-service corporate and commercial law firm in Zambia. Corpus advises local and international clients on banking and finance, M&A, capital markets, corporate, dispute resolution, and energy, resources and infrastructure matters. Our experience in guiding clients through complex commercial matters is grounded in our understanding of the Zambian market and the legal, regulatory and administrative regimes that govern it. Corpus’ clients are diverse. We focus on representing global mining companies on all aspects of their business, including market entry, licensing and regulation, project financing, disputes, divestiture and market exit. Our banking and finance team advises international lenders and sponsors on large-scale infrastructure projects in Zambia (including rail, power and hydroelectric). We also advise banks, development institutions and corporates in lending transactions and other investments in the growing Zambian market. Through our corporate advisory team, we advise companies and NGOs on the set-up and operation of their businesses in Zambia. We also represent clients in commercial disputes in Zambian courts and international arbitration and help them navigate the increasingly active field of Zambian and African competition law.

Last Friday, we held our “Movie and Cartoon Characters” themed End of Year Party. After months of hard work and meeting targets, we took some time to pause, relax, dance, and celebrate over a sumptuous meal and refreshing drinks with our amazing teammates! The event was filled with joy as we saw a plethora of movie and cartoon characters come to life. Take some time to scroll through the document below and tell us which characters you can recognize in the comments section. We sincerely appreciate our clients for their continued support and partnership. What a way to end the year! We are even more excited about 2025. #Corpus #EndOfYearParty #TeamCelebration #MovieCharacters #CartoonCharacters #GoodTimes

I recently read an article authored by Charles Mkokweza and Lupiya Simusokwe from LEX Africa member, Corpus Legal Practitioners in Zambia. This article provides a detailed analysis of the proposed regulations aimed at modernising Zambia’s currency operations, emphasising their potential impact on domestic and cross-border transactions. It also raises thought-provoking legal considerations about the alignment of these regulations with Zambia’s Constitution and existing legislation. Do you need to insert the link to the article here? For anyone interested in understanding the evolving regulatory landscape in Zambia and its implications for businesses, this article is an excellent resource. I highly recommend it as a valuable read https://lnkd.in/gDPTaVkB #LEXAfrica #Zambia #Banking #CurrencyRegulations #LegalInsights

On 22 March 2023, the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (“ZAMRA”) published the Guidelines on the Application for Grant of Marketing Authorization of Cosmetics in Zambia (the “Guidelines”). The Guidelines are issued pursuant to section 68 of the Medicines and Allied Substances Act No. 3 of 2013 (“MASA”) and came into effect on 9 September 2024. In this article, Partner Jackie Jhala and Associate, Dalitso Ng'ona, outline the key processes an applicant must follow when applying for marketing authorization for cosmetic products in Zambia.
