We are a youth-oriented civil society organization dedicated to advocating for the inclusion and participation of young people, women, and persons with disabilities in governance, development, and political discourse. Established in 2017, we have made it our mission to ensure young people active in politics are adequately represented and included in issues of governance, democracy, and inclusive sustainable development. Our strategic priority work areas include youth political leadership development and empowerment, and legal and policy reform (supportive of youth participation). Over the past 6 years, we have designed to advocate for, educate, and inspire young people to effect sustainable development at the national and regional levels.

CYLA ZAMBIA IS ATTENDING THE 2024 LUSAKA INTERNET MEET-UP Theme: “Leveraging Zambia’s Digital Journey in the Age of AI” We are attending the Lusaka Internet Meet-Up 24 hosted by Bloggers Of Zambia. It is a platform where Zambia’s digitization issues are being discussed and shaped. We are attending particularly to learn the best practices of digital integration and AI in development work as we deem digitisation as a valuable means to promoting participation of youth, women, and persons with disabilities in politics and public life. The 2-day meet-up will include ensembles of dialogues and workshops admitting civil society organizations, media, academia, government, private sector and international non-governmental organizations. #CYLAZambia #LusakaInternetMeetUp24 #OpenSpaceZM
In partnership with the SADC Youth Network, on 26 June, 2024 we hosted a CSO community engagement meeting with 20 youth-led and youth-focused civil society organisations and movements to build awareness of the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG) as it relates to election cycles, election accountability, electoral legal frameworks, and its relevance to the Zambian democracy. The deliberations of this meeting aimed to improve our collective efforts of advancing political participation of youth, women, and persons with disabilities in Zambia. #ZibaniACDEG #DGTrends #ACDEG
The 7 CSOs call on the government to immediately commence consultation on constitutional reforms and urge the United Party for National Development (UPND) government to fulfill its promises on constitutional reforms, as outlined in their 2021 party manifesto. Constitutional reforms are crucial for enhancing checks and balances, ensuring judicial independence, and safeguarding human rights. HIGHLIGHT: Disability Inclusion in Politics Staff Training CYLA staff and board underwent a training in Disability Inclusion in politics and public life at Palm Kalash on April 18, 2024. In this training, staff and board engaged in the exchange of knowledge and ideas to ensure that CYLA work is inclusive. Among many other actions, creation of reasonable accommodation, use of person-first language, and infrastructural accessibility were identified as key steps to ensuring disability inclusion. Ultimately, the training showed how the efforts of the Coalition for Women in Politics in Zambia (COWIP) can promote disability inclusion in public and political life. #PoliticsForHerZM #PowertoShe #MwanakaziAmbeke
