Empowering The Future!

About us

RDG is a multinational, for-profit company that designs, manufactures, distributes and finances Solar Home systems (SHS) and Productive use appliances (PUE) . RDG’s purpose is to empower households, businesses, and communities by facilitating access to essential renewable energy products and services that unlock potential and transform lives across Africa. With the cost of these products remaining prohibitively high for almost all off-grid households, RDG provides its products on a PAY-AS-YOU-GO (PAYG) Basis. This enables the customer to spread their payments over an extended period, rather than paying cash up front. By eliminating this ‘barrier’, households across Zambia can access RDG Refrigerators, Solar Water Pumps, Smartphones and Solar Home systems (SHS) to improve and empower their lives. Households that were previously forgotten, are now on the frontier of an exciting new market opportunity. Finally, RDG seeks to Empower its people. Giving an opportunity to hardworking and talented individuals, who not only enable the success of RDG, but promote and facilitate development in communities throughout Zambia. RDG is here to EMPOWER

Empowering Women through Renewable Energy I am thrilled to share an incredible experience I had recently, leading a delegation from the Swedish Embassy to showcase our renewable energy products. Our mission is to empower businesses and communities by providing access to affordable Productive Use Energy appliances, and this visit was a testament to the impact we are making. During our visit to Soweto Market, we had the privilege of meeting a remarkable woman-led business that has transformed its operations with the help of our solar energy solutions. This business, equipped with a solar fridge, is now able to provide clean water to the marketeers at Soweto Market. The solar fridge not only ensures the availability of safe drinking water but also enhances the overall health and well-being of the community. This initiative is a shining example of how renewable energy can drive economic empowerment and improve the quality of life for women entrepreneurs. By providing access to sustainable energy solutions, we are enabling women to run their businesses more efficiently, reduce operational costs, and contribute to a greener future. I am incredibly proud of the progress we are making and the positive impact we are having on communities. Together, we can continue to support and empower women entrepreneurs, fostering a more inclusive and sustainable economy. RDG Collective Let's keep pushing forward and making a difference! #SDGgoals

  • Our Founder and CEO, Rune Gunnar Dige, will be speaking on day 1 at this years #GOGSFE24. Check out the details below for what will be an exciting discussion. Session: Outside the Box: multi-sectoral cooperation for sustainable scaling of solar irrigation Description Solar irrigation can provide a cost-effective and sustainable way to increase food production and improve agricultural livelihoods. However, the success of solar irrigation is dependent on the ecosystem that surrounds the technology such as complementary inputs related to agriculture, water and financing. This session will explore the ways that multi-sectoral approaches can address barriers to the adoption of solar irrigation, and how systemic change can result in a rapid acceleration of scale and impact. • We’re thrilled to announce that RDG has secured a $1.25 million investment from the Acumen Hardest-to-Reach initiative! This investment will enable us to bring solar energy access to 66,000 people and 180 small businesses in Zambia, supporting local economic growth while reducing emissions by 7,000 tCO2eq. With Acumen’s support, we are continuing to deliver life-changing solar home systems and generators that offer clean, reliable energy to communities without access to the grid. We’re proud to work with Acumen and BioLite to drive sustainable energy solutions in Zambia and beyond. As partners, Acumen, BioLite, and RDG Collective are committed to scaling clean energy access. #impact #investing #renewables #zambia https://lnkd.in/d5evT5PS
