  • RENEWAL OF PRACTICE LICENCE-2025 The Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is a self-regulated membership body, established under the Accountants Act No. 13 of 2008 with the primary mandate of regulating and promoting the accountancy profession in Zambia. Validity of membership to the Institute is only upon payment of applicable fees in accordance with Section 12 (1) of the Act. Against this backdrop, we wish to draw your attention to the following sections of the Act for your reference: 22. (1) A practising certificate or a non-audit practicing certificate shall be renewed annually in the prescribed manner and form upon payment of the prescribed fee. (2) A practising certificate or a non-audit practising certificate that is not renewed in accordance with subsection (1) is invalid. As you may be aware, the practice licence issued by the Institute is valid from 1st January to 31st December annually. Therefore, be advised that the practice fees for 2025 are due on 1st January and payable by 31 January 2025. In the past, the Institute has observed with great concern that holders of practice licences choose to renew their licences way into the year while practicing, this clearly renders the provision of a violation of the law This notice serves to inform you that the Institute will invoke Section 22 (3) of the Act to prosecute any practitioner who is found practicing without a valid licence. Furthermore, the Institute shall commence the process of deregistration for all practitioners who fail to renew their practice license by 31st January 2025. Following this, a list of duly registered practitioners shall be published in the print media and all available channels. You are therefore advised to begin the process of renewal of practice license before 31st January 2025 to avoid any inconvenience. Kindly take further notice that the following documents will be required when processing renewal of practice license: i. Annual return ii. Tax Clearance certificate iii. Professional Indemnity Insurance iv. Continuity Agreement-where applicable; and v. Proof of payment of relevant fees. You may access the annual returns and continuity agreement for your completion on the following link: www.zica.co.zc/membership/practitioners Should you need further clarification, please do contact the undersigned or the Director Standards and Regulation Mr Mwelwa Mwaba on mmwelwa@zica.co.zm

  • NOTICE TO PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS AND MEMBERS VERIFICATION OF QUALIFICATIONS BY ZAQA As you may already be aware, the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) Act no. 8 of 2024 requires all persons to have their qualifications regardless of origin to be verified. It is mandatory for all Institutions to only accept ZAQA verified qualifications for purposes of recognition of authenticity of the same. With the aforementioned, this is a kind reminder that the Institute will only enroll persons whose qualifications have been verified by the Authority (ZAQA) in compliance with the Law. However, in case the application for verification takes longer than the prescribed ZAQA lead time, the Institute has arranged with ZAQA for applicants to obtain a letter of confirmation that the verification is in progress. Based on that letter, the Institute will be able to grant conditional admission pending the verification outcome. This process will help with anxieties faced by applicants in a situation where verification takes a long time.
