Over the past year, we've continued with our mission to support communities to produce more healthy food 🫛, have better access to #water💧 and sanitation, and improve their #nutrition🥗. As 2️⃣ 0️⃣ 2️⃣ 4️⃣ comes to an end, we are proud of how women, youth, and men participating in USAID Takunda interventions showed #resilience in the face of the #ElNiño induced drought. They have managed to diversify #livelihoods through initiatives like Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) and entrepreneurship among others. Looking ahead to 2️⃣ 0️⃣ 2️⃣ 5️⃣, we are more committed than ever to #empowering rural communities in Buhera, Chivi, Mutare, and Zaka to #overcome obstacles and reach their full potential. #Takunda USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance CARE Zimbabwe
#OvercomingObstacles #Takunda Yesterday was a game-changer for 1️⃣ 7️⃣ 3️⃣ amazing young people from Buhera & Mutare Rural Districts as they received their Certificates of Competence in various trades such as hotel and catering, brick and block laying, cosmetology, clothing technology, and carpentry. These talented youth are now ready to build their futures and inspire their communities. With support from USAID Takunda, 2024 was a year of #BigWins. A total 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 9️⃣ 0️⃣ 3️⃣ youth (3,446 men & 9,457 women) completed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and the results are: ✅ 646 jobs secured ✅ 935 self-employed or engaging in their income-generating activities And guess what? They are earning between US$100 to US$300/month in jobs or making US$76 to US$132/month from their businesses. Through the power of Human-Centered Design, Takunda has pioneered innovative solutions to improve access to toilets for the poorest and most vulnerable communities in Buhera, Chivi, Mutare, and Zaka Rural Districts. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in this life-changing project. On this #WorldToiletDay, we stand united with the world in recognizing that Toilets are a place for peace. Through USAID Takunda, a CARE Zimbabwe-led and USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance-funded project, we are proud to contribute to improving sanitation in Buhera, Chivi, Mutare, and Zaka Rural Districts. Thanks to the Sanitation Focused Participatory Health and Hygiene Education (SafPHHE) approach, which prioritizes demand-led strategies, we have been able to facilitate the training of 4️⃣ 3️⃣ 4️⃣ latrine builders who have already constructed 4️⃣ 0️⃣ 8️⃣ 5️⃣ latrines in the targeted districts. Together, we have achieved remarkable progress: ✅ 10 villages have reached Open Defecation Free (ODF) status. ✅ 82 villages are above 75% sanitation cover. #WorldToiletDay #ToiletsForAll #SanitationMatters

Today we are at Westgate Shopping Complex for the Glytime Foods Health Expo. Please pass by our stand and meet some of the inspiring #farmers and #entrepreneurs we are working with who are now producing and supplying five varieties of indigenous, nutrient-enriched porridges. Through the USAID Takunda, a CARE Zimbabwe-led and USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance funded project we are supporting 57 entities across four districts (Buhera, Chivi,Mutare & Zaka) equipping them with the skills to grow, produce and thrive. Together, they have produced 18MT, sold an impressive 16.2MT of enriched porridges and achieved a combined income of US$26 930.50 between October 2023 and September 2024. #Production #Income #Resilience
