Series of satellite images displaying the eruption of Hunga Tonga–Hunga Haʻapai on 15 January 2022. This vulcanic blast generated the largest atmospheric explosion recorded by modern instrumentation and is considered as one of the largest eruptions in historic time. It also caused several tsunamis around the pacific with some fatalities.
