Editors’ Vox is a blog from AGU’s Publications Department.
AGU Publications is thrilled to announce five new Editors-in-Chief (EiCs) to join our journals program in 2025. Four of the EiCs were appointed to continue the great work done by their predecessors. The fifth served as the Founding EiC of our newest journal, JGR: Machine Learning and Computation, over the past year, and has been selected to continue as EiC for a full term.
We thank the following outgoing EiCs for their leadership and contributions during their terms:
- AGU Advances: Susan Trumbore (Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, Germany), EiC 2019-2024;
- Geophysical Research Letters: Harihar Rajaram (Johns Hopkins University, USA), EiC 2019- July 2024, and Minghua Zhang (Stony Brook University, USA), Interim EIC, July-December 2024;
- JGR: Earth Surface: Amy East (United States Geological Survey, USA), EiC 2019-2024; and
- Radio Science: Sana Salous (Durham University, UK), EiC 2019-2024.
And a warm welcome to their successors:

AGU journals editor-in-chief searches are conducted through an open call and managed by Search Committees appointed by the AGU Council Leadership team, and in collaboration with the AGU Publications Committee and AGU Publications staff. The Council Leadership Team makes the final approval and appointment. We thank all these colleagues for their invaluable contributions during this process.
