Left Alone Lyrics
Eyes are open, words are spoken
Here's to the sunrise
Head is loaded, cards are folded
Under the moonlight
Can you remember, you remember the last time
We woke up sober?
Can you remember, you remember the last night
You ran me over?
[Pre-Chorus: Mark Hoppus]
Are we halfway gone or halfway there?
[Chorus: Matt Skiba & Mark Hoppus]
Left alone, we're only halfway home
Sink like stones, fall into the unknown
Break me down, I'm not afraid of you, pull me under
Slowly drown, I never wanted to, left alone to wonder
[Verse 2: Matt Skiba & Mark Hoppus]
Mind is open, thoughts are woken
There goes the sunrise
Heart is broken, love unspoken
Here comes the moonlight
Can you remember, you remember the last time
I left hungover?
Can you remember, you remember the last night
That I stayed over?
Are we halfway gone or halfway there?
[Chorus: Matt Skiba & Mark Hoppus]
Left alone, we're only halfway home
Sink like stones, fall into the unknown
Break me down, I'm not afraid of you, pull me under
Slowly drown, I never wanted to, left alone to wonder
[Post-Chorus: Mark Hoppus and Matt Skiba]
Whoa, we're left alone, whoa oh, whoa, we're left alone, whoa oh
Whoa, we're left alone, whoa oh, whoa, we're left alone, whoa oh
[Chorus: Matt Skiba & Mark Hoppus]
Left alone, we're only halfway home
Sink like stones, fall into the unknown
Break me down, I'm not afraid of you, pull me under
Slowly drown, I never wanted to, left alone to wonder
[Post-Chorus: Mark Hoppus and Matt Skiba]
Whoa, we're left alone, whoa oh, whoa, we're left alone, whoa oh
Whoa, we're left alone, whoa oh, whoa, we're left alone, whoa oh

In a track by track breakdown recorded for NME, guitarist Matt Skiba said:
‘Left Alone’ that was another song, to me, you know I’m such a huge fan of this record. To me, front to finish, I really love every song for different reasons. ‘Left Alone’ early on, I thought, was a contender for a single. Again, so hitty, so immediate and huge. I really dig Travis' drumming, on that song especially, was, just, classic Travis Barker. The whole thing is. The whole record. There’s so many parts where I’m like “Ah the kids that play drums are going to learn that fill. They’re going to have to learn that fill.” That drum part in that song, too, all the drummer kids are going to have to learn it. It’s classic. And then, on top of that, is just a really huge catchy song that I thought could be the single too. In my opinion, ‘Left Alone’ and ‘Bored to Death’. Kind of similar songs, but also, when you listen to them next to each other, very different."
