This song seems to be a warning to someone about the pitfalls of being famous; specifically that the media (and/or the wider public as a whole) will “turn you into something whether you are it or not.” As the leader of a rock band (from Las Vegas no less) and a practising Mormon, Brandon seems to be familiar with what kind of perceptions that different kinds of people may have of him (i.e. “saint” vs. “sinner” duality). This song also seems to be taking place in a public setting (perhaps a party) with other famous people, with Brandon essentially telling the person that “the people passing by,” not paying this person any sort of (or the deserved amount of) attention, should actually be so in awe/terrified of them that they “tremble.”
