About
“바다 (Sea)” is the second hidden track on BTS' fifth mini album, Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’ and is only available on the physical album. It discusses the hardships BTS has experienced since debut, particularly struggling to compete with groups from other, larger agencies. In this song, BTS reflects on these hardships, fearing that their global fame and success could leave as suddenly as it arrived.
This song was composed by RM in October 2016 and was originally considered for his next mixtape. Parts of the song were altered when it was changed to be a BTS release, but RM played a clip of the original version during his behind-the-scenes- vlive (at 38:50).

In an Vlive by RM, one of the members of BTS, he said:
The guide feels a bit more desperate [than the final version]. The lyrics were different from the current version.
When it comes to “Sea”, I want to say thank you to Slow Rabbit who edited the track, and streamlined the vocals. Also to Producer Bang, who let us include this song in the album; I thought this would never see the light of day.
And Suga – Suga did a great job in this song, really. I loved his rap. You may know if you’ve heard this track. I think this is one of the best raps by Suga. He wrote great lyrics. His way of writing lyrics is so different from mine. he did a great job, and wrote such beautiful lyrics. I thought he wouldn’t do his best, since it’s a hidden track. Although I don’t know how long he spent writing this, he did a good job.
You know, the conversation part of the song. Suga also planned that. He also did a great job in rapping along with J-Hope and I. It’s one of the best raps by Suga. Thank you, Suga. “우리의 피 땀 눈물로 채워 바다가 됐어” (“The scary desert became the ocean with our blood, sweat and tears”) – such expressions didn’t seem special, but they were really nice.

When the BTS leader Rap Monster was asked this during the interview with Billboard, he explained
I think they’re hidden because you have to be a real fan of BTS to understand them. Otherwise, you won’t. Otherwise, you’d like be, “Why are they feeling so confused about things? They’re good?!? They’re No. 1 somewhere, they have so much stuff, why are they worried?” People always talk about that. But if you are true fan of BTS and you buy the album and you listen to the hidden track – if you are an Army and we spent time together from 2013, 2014 – they could understand. It’s kind of more special, more closer, to our true hearts.
