Alone I Break Lyrics
Pick me up
Been bleeding too long
Right here, right now
I'll stop it somehow
[Pre-Chorus]
I will make it go away
Can't be here no more
Seems this is the only way
I will soon be gone
These feelings will be gone
These feelings will be gone
[Chorus]
Now I see the times they change
Leaving doesn't seem so strange
I am hoping I can find
Where to leave my hurt behind
All the shit I seem to take
All alone I seem to break
I have lived the best I can
Does this make me not a man?
[Verse 2]
Shut me off
I'm ready, heart stops
I stand alone
Can't be on my own
I will make it go away
Can't be here no more
Seems this is the only way
I will soon be gone
These feelings will be gone
These feelings will be gone
[Chorus]
Now I see the times they change
Leaving doesn't seem so strange
I am hoping I can find
Where to leave my hurt behind
All the shit I seem to take
All alone I seem to break
I have lived the best I can
Does this make me not a man?
[Bridge]
Am I going to leave this place?
What is it I'm hiding from?
Is there nothing more to come?
(Am I gonna leave this place?)
Is it only black in space?
Am I going to take its place?
Am I going to win this race?
(Am I gonna win this race?)
I guess God's up in this place
What is it that I've become?
Is there something more to come?
More to come
Now I see the times they change
Leaving doesn't seem so strange
I am hoping I can find
Where to leave my hurt behind
All the shit I seem to take
All alone I seem to break
I have lived the best I can
Does this make me not a man?
Now I see the times they change
Leaving doesn't seem so strange
I am hoping I can find
Where to leave my hurt behind
All the shit I seem to take
All alone I seem to break
I have lived the best I can
Does this make me not a man?
About
“Alone I Break” is the third single off of the band’s 2002 album Untouchables.
Although it wasn’t as successful when compared to their first two singles (“Here to Stay” and “Thoughtless”) off the album, this could be their most powerful track in regards to the lyrical content and the emotion conveyed by Jonathan Davis in his singing. In the studio, Munky and Head used custom 14-string guitars to create a wide chorus sound, and synthetic drum beats were used.
The whole band was going through some rough times around “Untouchables” and Davis wrote this song because of it. Davis, in particular, was extremely depressed around this time. With everybody in the band feeling emotional as they were, Davis felt this song was an accurate depiction to how he and the other members felt at the time.
The central theme of this song is depression consuming you to the point where suicide seems like the appropriate response.
