“New York City” is a song that was recorded by Kylie Minogue, presumably for her fourteenth studio album Golden; during an interview with Build Series, she stated that she had started writing a song called “New York City” when asked a question by a studio audience member; she said that it was one of a number of songs that had been started and not finished or didn’t make the album, and that they’d been singing the song in the car the day before. After this, she sang a part of the song, which is presumably the first verse and pre-chorus, because she stated after she’d finished that what came next was a “big chorus”.

The song was performed as part of the Kylie Presents: Golden promo tour, and then included on the Golden Tour; on May 3 2019, the song was released as the lead single from Kylie’s upcoming greatest hits album Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection
