Co-written by Sam Hunt, Josh Osborne, and Shane McAnally, “Take Your Time” is the second single off Hunt’s debut album, Montevallo. It is a mid-tempo ballad with lyrics half-spoken, half-sung, demonstrating the influence of R&B and rap on Hunt’s music:

In January 2015, Hunt performed the song on Ellen.

So far, the track has become a huge hit in the USA, peaking at #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and becoming his first top-twenty hit on the all-format Billboard Hot 100. It performed similarly on airplay, reaching #2 on the country charts and #16 overall. It was also certified Gold by the RIAA.
