UK virtual Wikimedia Meetup 13
[edit]Date and time: Thursday 23 June 2022 20:00—22:00 (note later starting time)
Join at any time you can, no need to stay for the whole event.
Location: Online
We will use Zoom video chat, the link is below. the wub will host.
You can expect to meet some very keen Wikimedians, and complete newbies are also welcome, as is anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. We typically chat about goings-on in the Wiki-verse and life in general, and sometimes will work together on some editing. If you have suggestions for topics, please add them below.
Note that we're using video conferencing, but there's no obligation to have your camera on if you prefer not to show your face. Or indeed your microphone: some people do just come along and listen in.
Feel free to join from anywhere you may be, in the UK or elsewhere! And please invite any Wikimedia people you know (or have had wiki dealings with) who might be interested – spread the word!

Suggested topics
[edit]- I'm working on a project which aims to improve automatic citations (where you input a URL, and it generates a templated citation with title, date, publication, author etc.) in both the VisualEditor and source editor. Are there sites that you commonly use for referencing where this doesn't currently work well? We're collecting some in this spreadsheet. the wub "?!" 22:12, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
- Would be interested to note if this is related to w:Template:Cite Q off Wikidata. Djm-leighpark (talk) 16:55, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
- Not really, Cite Q takes a new approach to cite academic papers and books. This project is more about improving the input to templates like w:Template:Cite news and w:Template:Cite web. the wub "?!" 22:18, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
