Danny Boyle has been confirmed to direct an as yet untitled cop drama for Channel 4 form Peep Show writers Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong.
The Trance and 127 Hours director will make his return to television after ten years away, having previously directed the TV movies Strumpet and Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise.
The announcement was made by Channel 4’s chief creative officer Jay Hunt today (August 22) at the Edinburgh International TV Festival, though a name for the series has not yet been confirmed.
Bain and Armstrong’s last series was the university-based sitcom Fresh Meat.
Channel 4 also announced a new 10-part period drama called Indian Summers, which will be set in the Himalayas and trace the decline of the British Empire and the birth of Modern India.
The broadcaster’s Head of Drama Piers Wenger said: ‘The epic beauty of the Himalayas provides the perfect backdrop for this turbulent story of a world in change.’
