Usually people choose something deep and meaningful, a proverb or a dedication to a loved one.
But Stian Ytterdahl decided to ditch tradition and pay homage to his favourite fast food joint with a tattoo of a McDonald’s receipt on his right forearm.
The 18-year-old had been at a Norwegian branch of the restaurant when his friends decided he needed to be punished for being ‘a little too active towards the ladies lately’.
‘When we were in the restaurant on Monday, they said I had to tattoo a Barbie doll on my bum, or the receipt on my arm,’ Mr Ytterdahl told Romerikes Blad.
‘It’s fun to think that I have a tattoo that no one has seen before. Even the date and time is on my arm,’ he added.
The tattoo features a quite extensive list of McDonald’s treats – including three cheeseburgers, a Coca-Cola and ‘nonstop’ McFlurry – but Stian’s parents were certainly not lovin’ it.
‘I got an email from my dad that wasn’t entirely positive, saying “What on earth have you done?! Do you think you are coming home with that!? Your mother has had a break down”,’ Mr Ytterdahl told Expressen.
But the teenager seems fairly indifferent about the long-term consequences of his stunt.
‘I think all this is just fun. Maybe it’s not as fun when I’m 50 or 60 years old, but it’s my choice,’ he said.
