You’re relaxing on the sofa, tucking into a tub of Haagen-Dazs when your feline friend pops up begging for a lick. What kind of monster would turn down such a fluffy face?
Not you – you are a benevolent owner. And then suddenly your cats face turns into a furry version of The Scream.
Why? Brain freeze. The pain is real.
Paralyzing cold.
Was this really part of God’s plan?
Even a tiny lick can mean game over.
Life is so cruel.
What sort of life is one where this can happen?
Brain freeze aside, ice cream is pretty bad for cats. A spokesperson for Cats Protection has offered the following advice for moggy owners:
‘Cats Protection does not endorse feeding cats ice cream or other dairy products. Not only are they high in calories but around a third of cats can’t tolerate cow’s milk and it can lead to sickness. We would always recommend a commercial, tinned or dried, meat derived diet designed for cats.
‘This provides the right balance of minerals, vitamins and other nutrients that cats need. One thing that can be tried is introducing feeding enrichment. This provides the cat’s normal food in ways that are more interactive and engaging compared to simply being offered food in a bowl.’

And now we know what kitty brain freeze looks like, there’s probably no need to put your own cat through it for the sake of a few likes on Twitter. Jokes over ppl, move on.
