Pep Guardiola admits Gael Clichy went against his ‘philosophy’ with his goal in Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Swansea City in the EFL Cup.
The French left-back opened the scoring following a neat exchange of passes by City, but the Spaniard admits he wouldn’t normally want the defender to stray so far out of his position.
‘That is not my philosophy,’ said Guardiola.

‘Gael’s instinct is go there.
‘It’s important if one player goes there that another has to cover his position. When this happens it’s not a big problem, but that is not normal.’
