Brendan Cole and Natasha Kaplinsky sparked rumours they were having an affair during their time together on Strictly Come Dancing, back in 2004.
And, despite years of explaining they were just good friends, the professional dancer has now admitted ‘something happened’ with the newsreader.
In a candid interview with John Bishop, the 42-year-old went so far as to say ‘you can’t hide chemistry’ – but vowed he was not unfaithful to fellow dancer Camilla Dallerup, whom he had been dating for eight years.
‘Camilla left me three weeks into the show, the night she got kicked off,’ he revealed according to the Mirror. ‘I still remember, she stood there in the line-up and it gets down to Camilla and myself, Her and David Dickinson, and myself and Kaplinsky.
‘They announced that we were safe and Camilla and David were leaving. And, you know, your natural reaction to news like that is you go like, you know, we’re safe. She took that as, ‘you unsupportive so-and-so’.’
Speaking about his relationship with Natasha, 45, he admitted they became ‘extremely close’ on the show, which they eventually won.
‘The chemistry was there, plain for all to see,’ he continued.
‘I didn’t have an affair. Camilla chose to leave. Once you do something, after that it’s not an affair.’
Brendan has also sparked speculation over his marriage to wife Zoe Hobbs, with whom he shares to children – Aurelia and Dante.
The dancer – who was axed from the BBC series at the beginning of the year – was spotted on a night out with his backing singer, Jenna Lee James, back in May.
Pictures from the evening showed the pair hugging and apparently holding hands at one point.
While neither commented on the photos at the time, Brendan is adamant there are no issues in his marriage to Zoe.
‘Zoe and I have had our ups and downs, but you follow the common goal,’ he added to the comedian.
Brendan’s words come after he opened up about his family life, during an appearance on Loose Women, and admitted he has struggled to cope with his newborn son.
During a chat with the ITV panel, he explained he hasn’t bonded with little Dante, who was born earlier this year.
‘My daughter is daddy’s little girl. I love her to bits, as you do with your children. On a more serious note, I’m struggling more with the second child,’
‘Not post-natal depression, or anything like that, because that’s obviously what women go through, but I still feel there’s a real sense of anxiety with the second one.

‘I feel like I’m a bad dad, because I feel I’m not really bonding bonding with him.’
‘I feel terrible even talking like this because he’s a gorgeous little boy but he cries a lot. I find myself, when he’s crying at 3am, I just want him to go to sleep,’ he continued.
‘I know we all do that as parents. I find it very different with my daughter. It was never an issue!’
