Harry Redknapp is reportedly being eyed up for a role in EastEnders despite having no acting experience, thanks to his natural charm.
The former Premier League boss, 73, is rumoured to be in the running to play Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter’s (Danny Dyer) new sidekick in the BBC soap after ‘behind the scenes talks’.
A source told The Mirror: ‘Harry will be a great addition to EastEnders. Even though he has no traditional acting experience, his character and charm are more than enough to stand him in good stead on the show.
‘And with him growing up in the real East End, it makes it even better.’
According to the source, things are ‘pretty much agreed’ and all that’s left is to iron out the ‘fine details’ of his deal.
It’s not the first time Harry has been linked to the soap, as he recently revealed he would love to become a face on the Square.
He told The Sun on Sunday last month: ‘My ambition for 2021 is to get a part in EastEnders because I’m a real Eastender.
‘I grew up in Poplar, so have a real affinity with the area. I’ve already worked out my character.’
Harry revealed he’d thought up a scene where Mick is talking to some of the regulars in the Vic, when they discuss rumours that Harry has moved back into the area.
He added: ‘Mick then says, “He’s had enough of [Sandbanks]. He’s come back.” At this point, I come into the pub, they turn around looking shocked and I say, “I’ve moved around the corner.”
‘Mick then says, “Harry is back ’cause we’re starting up a little business. A bit of this, bit of that.”

‘I’ve already written the script so now all the show’s bosses need to do is to call me up. I’d like to be in it for a year – before they bump me off or something.’
Sounds like he might just have manifested his dream role.
