Stranger Things star David Harbour is set to experience even more – erm – stranger things as he dons the famous red suit and white beard for a new festive horror film.
The actor, known for starring as Jim Hopper in the hit Netflix series, will appear as a grizzled take on Santa Claus in Violent Night.
A poster was released on the film’s official Twitter page showing the star, 47, in costume with the chilling tagline ‘you better watch out’ from the normally cheery Christmas song Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.
The film is set to be released on December 2 in the UK with a trailer expected to be released soon.
Violent Night will follow a wealthy family as they try and survive an attack on their estate from a group of mercenaries – with Santa Claus primed and ready to step in and save the day as the night takes a violent turn.
The film will be directed by Tommy Wirkola, the mind behind Dead Snow and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.
It was written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, who also wrote both Sonic the Hedgehog films.
David will be joined by the likes of John Leguizamo, Beverly D’Angelo, Alex Hassell, Alexis Louder, Edi Patterson, Cam Gigandet, and André Eriksen in the cast.
The Hellboy and Black Widow star was also recently announced to be starring in a live-action Gran Turismo film for Sony and PlayStation.
Based on the best-selling video game, the film will be directed Neill Blomkamp, best known for his sci-fi movies such as District 9 and Elysium.
A synopsis of the film reads: ‘The ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver.’
