The Loose Women were at loggerheads when the topic of stay-at-home girlfriends was discussed, as Stacey Solomon and Kaye Adams in particular clashed over their views.
After watching a TikTok video of a young girl who stays at home and tends to the house while her boyfriend goes out to work, the panel became fired up, with the likes of Linda Robson and Kaye totally infuriated, while Carol McGiffin and Stacey weren’t so offended.
‘I don’t know why we’re so angry at these people,’ Stacey laughed, before Linda declared: ‘I’ve got a problem with it.’
‘I’m not angry because it is a difficult thing and I don’t wanna judge anyone because that is your choice and it’s entirely up to you, but I do find it quite upsetting, having two teenage girls,’ Kaye argued.
‘My mum fought for her independence and the right to be able to work and earn her own money and to be seen as a person, and not be an appendage to a bloke, which is all my mother’s generation were seen as, so it does upset me, if we’re moving backwards, where young girls want to attach themselves to a man.’
‘But this is the operative word,’ Stacey chimed in. ‘If they want and I think sometimes I get confused. I don’t want to be that, but when women were fighting for our independence and our right to vote, I think they were also fighting for our right to make our own decisions.
‘Whether that be, be a stay-at-home girlfriend,’ she began, before Carol agreed: ‘Or be a pole dancer, or anything!’
‘Whatever you wanna be!’
‘The power dynamic is always that women will be financially dependent on men. We’re not talking about stay-at-home boyfriends,’ Kaye argued.
‘But how do we know these girls don’t have their own money?’, Stacey questioned.
It wasn’t long before the shouting began and the panel began speaking over one another, with Kaye accusing Stacey of ‘really missing the point’ and branding Carol ‘ridiculous.’

‘What Stacey says is exactly right!’, Carol defended. ‘It’s like you’re telling girls they’ve got to do that, they’ve got to be CEOs,’ she added before Kaye quipped: ‘That’s what you’re hearing, that’s not what I’m saying.’
Carol added that it might be a ‘bad idea’ to promote ‘stay-at-home’ girlfriends as it sends a certain message to young girls, but declared: ‘I don’t care!’
