Netflix fans are concerned they will struggle ‘to cope emotionally’ after the first look at the TV adaptation of rom-com One Day was unveiled.
Based on the best-selling book of the same name by David Nicholls, One Day explores the relationship between student Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morley on the same day every year for the next two decades.
In 2011, the novel was transformed into a blockbuster film, starring Anne Hathaway, 41, and Jim Sturgess, 45, in the leading role, but has now been given the TV treatment by Netflix more than 10 years later.
Stepping into the Devil Wears Prada actor and Jim’s shoes for the 14-part series guaranteed to be a tearjerker are This Is Going To Hurt star Ambika Mod and The White Lotus’ Leo Woodall, 27
Ahead of the show’s release in February – just before Valentine’s Day – the Bridgerton streamer has released a slew of pictures, showing Ambika and Leo in the throws of love.

Fans have been left devastated by the pictures and are convinced it will wound them emotionally.
‘HUHHHHHH NAAHHHHH I CAN’T HANDLE IT A SECOND TIME,’ one worried on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Another asked: ‘Is this based on the movie of the same name or not? If it’s yes… this will ruin me in everyword same like the movie too. [sic]’

‘Netflix Dropped The First Pics From The One Day Series & I Don’t Think My Heart Can Take It. Yep, this is going to hurt,’ a third shared.
Fans are also hoping Ambika pulls off a Yorkshire accent after Anne was accused of ‘butchering’ it in the film.
Author David, however, when asked about Anne’s dodgy dialect previously by Metro.co.uk, insisted she did a ‘terrific job.’

He continued: ‘It’s never fun to focus on one element of the film and I think she did a terrific job.
‘It gets wearing but people took Emma to their hearts so it’s not surprising.
‘Characters on the page always have different characteristics to their on-screen versions and that’s one of the pleasures of adaptation.’

David also shared his theory on why both the book and the movie grabbed the public’s attention.
He said: ‘People made a connection with their own lives, relationships and regrets. People saw themselves and their friends in the characters Emma and Dexter.
‘It was quite an emotional book and it was written with the intention of making people laugh and cry. It seems to have worked.’
