Reality TV star Louise Thompson has shared an emotional story about her two-year-old son visiting her in hospital.
The Made in Chelsea alum gave her partner and son a fright recently when she was rushed to hospital, with her family having no idea when she would be discharged.
Louise, 33, was hospitalised for 17 days following a health decline while holidaying in Antigua.
She later revealed that the illness that caused her to be blue-lighted, as she was losing two cups of blood every 20 minutes.
During her hospital stint, the influencer was visited by her toddler and her fiancé Ryan Libbey around the two-week mark, despite initially being unsure whether she wanted her son to see the condition that she was.
Now, Louise has reflected on the ordeal and said that Leo-Hunter visiting her was ‘pure magic’.
She added in a social media post that the visit was ‘motivation’ for her to get better and get herself home.
However, her little one’s reaction to her being poorly was ‘upsetting’ for her, understandably.
She shared alongside a heartfelt video: ‘The good news is that when I came home everything went back to normal. He has been wonderful and things feel good.
‘I have to admit that when I was in hospital last January (don’t know whether to laugh or cry at how silly this all feels) things were a little worse when I came home so I was apprehensive. He was really rather angry at me for a day. He wouldn’t come near me and I found it.
‘He wouldn’t come near me and I found it v upsetting. He was behaving like I’d abandoned him. I’m not sure why the change in age has made such a big difference to his reaction but things felt easier this time.’
Louise continued with a question for her followers: ‘Does anyone know anything about the psychology of a child visiting their parent in hospital?’
The mum went on to recall her partner’s own struggles when he visited his mum in hospital as a child.
She penned: ‘When Ryan was young(ish) … well we’ve now established he was about 8 years old – he saw his mum in hospital connected to lots of wires after a major back surgery and the memory still stings him to this day. Ryan’s not very good with hospital. I don’t judge him for it.
‘That’s one of the reasons why we thought long and hard about bringing Leo in to visit.’
Louise has been incredibly open when speaking about her physical and mental health in recent years.
Since nearly dying while giving birth to Leo three years ago, the reality star has been battling post-traumatic stress disorder and post-natal anxiety.
In January 2022, she admitted that she would cry up to 20 times a week.
Later that year, Louise – who went ‘partially deaf’ during her ordeal – revealed she’d been diagnosed with lupus, holding back tears as she confirmed blood tests had come back positive for the condition.
Throughout 2023, the MIC alum kept her followers in the loop, explaining how she had been receiving care from gynaecology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, psychiatry, psychotherapy, and haematology each month.
As for her latest hospital dash, Louise is now working on a ‘speedy recovery’.
She shared after settling back in at home that she was sleeping a lot and ‘couldn’t really walk’, which initially sparked concern.
‘The fear kept escalating when I was going to the loo every 20 minutes losing cups full of blood,’ she penned on Instagram.

‘My body was ‘surviving’, ‘masking’ and ‘compensating’ but probably only because I’m young and I’ve got a good ticker. Bit of a miracle really.
‘Most people would be in A&E day 1 with my symptoms, I have no qualms in saying that because I know what my symptoms were and they were not ok, I’ll spare you some of the grittier details, but I became a little “too used” to my chronic condition,’ she wrote in her caption.
When her health wasn’t getting better without help, Louise informed her family. She added that she ‘couldn’t risk deteriorating further in a foreign country with a lack of adequate health care and without my notes.’
Louise booked an early flight home to the UK and went straight to A&E, where she was admitted.
