News that The Sims will be made into a film has set social media on fire, but fans demand that the characters speak Simlish.
The Sims 4 came out in 2014 and is still attracting tens of thousands of players every day. A sequel is currently in the works, but not expected to be released anytime soon.
The life simulator was first launched in 2000 but despite multiple attempts has never had a film or TV adaptation.
Now, however, a Sims movie is reportedly going ahead, with Barbie actor Margot Robbie and Kate Herron part of the team, and fans can’t wait.
Robbie’s production studio, LuckyChap, which produced the Barbie film, will take on The Sims adaptation. While Herron, who directed the Loki TV series, will direct.
Vertigo Entertainment and EA, the publisher of The Sims, will also be attached in a ‘creative and producing capacity,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter.
So far it seems fans like the idea of making The Sims into a film, even though the games have no built-in characters or stories.
Fans are very keen on the goth family being a prominent feature in the film – one of the starting families in the original The Sims – but they also want it so that nobody can understand what anyone’s saying, just like in the games.
‘I swear, if they shoot the entire movie in Simlish… Pure genius, especially if they can portray what everyone is saying with actions while keeping to the Simlish,’ TheTruthofOne said on Reddit.
‘If they aren’t speaking incoherent Simlish through the entire movie, and woohooing every night, then I don’t want it,’ Such-Box added.

The success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and The Last Of Us on TV, has led to a new wave of interest in video game adaptations and despite its lack of story it seems fans are actually perfectly happy with the idea of a Sims film.
