Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) receives a helping hand from PC Swirling (Andy Moore), who comes to the mechanic’s aid after he’s arrested on the way to see Moira (Natalie J Robb) at the hospital.
Moira, as viewers know, underwent brain surgery last month after a tumour was discovered by doctors in the wake her behaving incredibly out of character.
While the surgery proved a success, Cain struggled with the prospect of losing Moira and therefore lashed out at everyone, with his reckless behaviour threatening to destroy everything.
His biggest sin came in the form of cheating on Moira with sister-in-law Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) while his wife was undergoing surgery!
Cain has kept shtum about his betrayal and, with Moira now back at Butlers, he is determined to make her recovery as easy as possible.
However, with the guilt weighing heavy on him, he resorts to old behavioural patterns next week.
The mechanic makes his excuses and gets out of dodge, leaving Moira worried that he won’t make it back home in time for her appointment to find out if she needs any further treatment.
Her fears are soon realised when, on the way to hospital, Cain runs into trouble and ends up getting arrested by PC Swirling!
But knowing of Moira’s situation, the policeman decides to go easy on Cain, with he and his colleague opting against pressing charges over the altercation.
The above video, taken from Monday’s (December 9) edition of the ITV soap, sees PC Swirling enter the prison cell to inform Cain that he’s free to go.
Cain is his usual self but, understanding how much stress the gangster is under, Swirling doesn’t take his attitude personally.
Instead, he simply offers his support, revealing that his aunt Vera went through a similar situation to that of Moira, advising that he get some support himself as he helps Moira on the road to recovery.
Not all heroes wear capes.

This isn’t the first time that Swirling showed some much-needed compassion towards our villagers, with the policeman having fought tears last year when he found out that Rishi Sharma had died.
He also showed up to attend Zak Dingle’s (Steve Halliwell) funeral earlier this year.
Emmerdale airs these scenes Wednesday December 11 at 7:30pm or stream first from 6am on ITVX.
