Nick Knowles has given a major update into his recovery following a serious injury obtained on Strictly Come Dancing.
The presenter first became injured in October while changing a tyre on a roadside, meaning he had to pull out of training for a whole week and received a pass to the next show.
Once back in rehearsals, he badly hurt his knee but still managed to return to the contest. However, Nick and his professional partner Luba Mushtuk were then eliminated in week four.
The DIY SOS presenter has since undergone two major operations over the last couple of months to aid his recovery.
Now, he’s shared an honest update on how he’s adjusting and the significant work he’s doing to get back to full health.
A short clip posted on Instagram showed the 62-year-old determinedly walking up a set of stairs while holding onto crutches and wearing braces on his legs and arms. As he takes each step one at a time, he is being assisted by a medical professional.
In the caption Nick wrote: ‘So it wasn’t on my letter to Santa for two major operations – one to reattach my bicep and a second to build a new ACL and mend two years in the meniscus.
‘Thank you to my two magnificently talented surgeons – Mr Ahrens for the bicep and Mr Jig Patel for the knee.
‘Three types of knee brace and one type of elbow brace – crutches – game ready ice and pressure machine – pressure leggings – physio stretching out for months ahead.’
He then shared his goal to be ‘walking normally’ for the start of February when the next series of DIY SOS gets underway. He also thanked his fiancée Katie Dadzie, 34, for being ‘supportive and amazingly patient’ before joking that he is ‘the worst patient in the world’.
‘It’s been frustrating and very expensive but I’m determined to get back to 100% fitness which I hope will be around August 2025.
