Rap superstar Nicki Minaj has fired back after reportedly being sued by a former manager.
Brandon Garrett claims he worked as Minaj’s manager during her Pink Friday 2 Tour last year.
On Friday in Los Angeles, he filed a lawsuit through his attorney, Thomas Feher, alleging the Super Bass hitmaker assaulted him.
He is also suing for battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
As per TMZ, the alleged former employee of Minaj claims the 42-year-old ‘struck’ him backstage after her concert in Detroit at the Little Caesars Arena in April 2024.
Legal documents obtained by the US outlet show that Garrett claims he was first sent on an errand by Minaj – real name Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty.
It’s said she then summoned him to her dressing room.
She then allegedly quizzed members of the team on their job roles before ‘flying into a rage’ when Garrett said he once instructed someone else to pick up her prescription.
In the suit, Garrett claims she yelled at him: ‘Are you f***ing crazy, having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f***ing mind, and if my husband were here, he would knock out your f***ing teeth.’
She reportedly then screamed: ‘You’re a dead man walking. You just f***ed up your whole life, and you will never be anyone; I’ll make sure of it.’
After warning him that his ‘life was over,’ Minaj then reportedly struck Garrett on the right side of his face with her open hand.
He alleges the force was so strong that his head swung backwards and his hat flew off his head.
Claiming his face was ‘sore’ and his wrist began ‘throbbing’ after the musician allegedly struck his right wrist also, Garrett was then surrounded by her security squad.
He claims Minaj ordered him to ‘get the f**k out’ of her dressing room, which he obeyed before locking himself inside a small bathroom for hours, ‘fearing for his safety.’
As he sues for damages, Garrett claims the Starships hitmaker’s team didn’t allow him back onto her tour bus, leaving him stranded in Detroit.
However, the Trinidadian star has slammed the allegations in a statement via her lawyer.
Judd Burstein later told TMZ that ‘at this time, no complaint has been served’ upon Minaj, whose married name is Mrs Pretty.
He added: ‘We are unaware of the specific allegations. However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous.’
Claiming that Garrett was not Minaj’s ‘manager’, he said: ‘We are confident that the matter brought by this ex-assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs Petty’s favour.’
Minaj, who is widely regarded as the Queen of Rap, began her Pink Friday 2 World Tour last March and ended the run in October.
Consisting of 79 shows across three continents, the tour was the most expensive of her career, celebrating her 2023 studio album of the same name.
