TV presenter and journalist Nick Ferrari has announced he is engaged to his partner after 10 years together.
Nick, 65, shared the happy news on This Morning today, with the help of hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard.
In a segment together, Nick revealed that he had popped the question to his other half, Clare Patterson, over Christmas while they were in a restaurant in the south of France.
The broadcast star joked that he had told Clare she should ‘make an honest man out of me’ after a decade together.
‘I am engaged to be wed to Clare. We had the most idyllic Christmas and we’d already been to Lapland and had a brilliant time,’ he told Cat and Ben when they teased he had ‘breaking news’.
‘Then we were down in the south of France and after ten years together I finally decided she can make an honest man out of me.’
Nick added: ‘I did it at our favourite restaurant in the south of France.
‘I want her to play a role in designing her engagement ring, so she kind of knew it was coming.’
Explaining how he had fun with his, the journalist continued: ‘We had to go to a DIY store, and every now and then I would get down on one knee and would say, “Clare, I have a question – could you pass me that screwdriver?”‘
As Cat admonished him for being a ‘ratbag’, Nick revealed that he had bought a ‘tiny jubilee clip’ from the store to use for his proposal, before he and Clare then picked out a ‘decent’ ring together the following morning.
He previously revealed in a 2017 interview with The Belfast Telegraph that Clare is 15 years his junior, at 50.
