Marks & Spencer recently had eyebrows raising after launching their Valentine’s Day collection for 2025 as the range featured a chocolate arrow that many felt looked more phallic than it should, as well as a rather cheeky-looking banana.
But now they’ve caused a stir once more after dropping their Easter products several months early, and one item in particular has proved a hit with shoppers – the Pistachio Rolled Eggs.
Priced at £6.50 for a box of five, the sweet treats are Belgian milk chocolate eggs filled with a rich pistachio and white chocolate filling, and rolled in chopped pistachios for a ‘crunchy finish’.
We’re only a week or so into 2025, but people have been flocking to buy the seasonal item, with some even going as far as to proclaim it the ‘product of the year’ already.
In a video on TikTok, Brandon Spatcher, a product developer for M&S, said: ‘These bad boys need their screen time, they are eggs filled with pistachio cream, covered in milk chocolate and covered in pistachio. This is the product of the year for me.’
While @allthingshays1 filmed a taste test, saying: ‘Omg yum. That is so nice. I’m going to rate them a 9/10. They’re really good.’
And @thissinglemamaofficial agreed, praising the thick chocolate and adding: ‘If you like pistachios, you are going to love these. It’s a bit like a pistachio-flavoured Ferrero Rocher and you really do get a good hit from that cream in the middle and in my opinion it’s a very well-balanced flavour. A 10/10 from me. Would I repurchase these? 100%.’
On Instagram, shoppers were just as excited to try the new product, with @kels90_ joking: ‘It’s what Jesus would have wanted.’
And @johns_snackreviews was also a fan, rating them 8.5/10, with points lost due to the price which he felt was a little high. He posted: ‘If you’ve had Lindt pistachio, you’ll know the taste. It’s a pistachio chocolate filling, not spread. A thick layer of good quality chocolate and finished off with loads of crushed pistachio nuts.
‘They’re amazing and you need them…. However, £6.50….. it’s too expensive. Would I buy again? Yes. But because of the price, it’d be a rare occasion. I think £4.50 – £5 would have been more reasonable.’
This comes after an M&S worker revealed that we can expect to see many more pistachio-flavoured products this year.
More Trending
Stephen Fitzgerald, the head of product development, told Metro: ‘We like to set trends, but you obviously can’t ignore things like hot honey or pistachio, which are everywhere at the moment. We’ve put our own spin on these, elevated them and given them mass appeal.
‘I think the M&S magic is finding that sweet spot between something that’s on trend, which customers might not quite understand, and making it accessible for them, and our chocolate covered pistachios have been a big success.
‘I think there’s definitely more of these flavour profiles, or similar, to come – we’re really only just on the start of that journey.’
