Passionate protesters gathered by the river in front of Arlington Row in Bibury dressed in an array of striking costumes to highlight the sewage issue in the River Coln. The demonstration was held on Earth Day on April 22, 2022. The costumes gained significant attention from passers-by and drivers who waved and honked in encouragement.

An offshore oil exploration rig, in the Scottish sector of the North Sea, burns off oil and natural gas it has just tapped. There is no way to safely contain such an volatile mixture on an exploration well, so it is simply burned off in this testing phase to avoid an oil slick and a potentially catastrophic explosion. Nine out of ten wells come up dry in the gamble of oil exploration. This one paid off as one of the largest North Sea finds, testing at over 10,000 barrels per day.
