Undated handout artist's impression issued by Queen's University Belfast of a group of Amurosaurus riabinini grazing through the ancient forests of Far Eastern Russia, while a Tarbosaurus is pursuing them. The individual in the foreground is limping on the forelimb because of a serious traumatic injury in the right wrist. The injury is swollen, but healing. The bone of a 68-million-year-old "majestic" dinosaur reveals that it had a broken wrist, most likely from running or jumping over rough terrain in search of food or water. ***EMBARGOED UNTIL 19.00 GMT, WED FEB 16 (14.00 ET)*** A huge dinosaur that looked like a crocodile has been unearthed in Portugal. See SWNS story SWNNcroc; The prehistoric river monster had a spiny back and waded into the water - preying on fish. It was about 33 feet long and weighed over three tons. The new species belonged to a group known as spinosaurs - the largest carnivorous dinosaurs. Lead author Prof Octavio Mateus, of the NOVA School of Science and Technology, Caparica, said: "Spinosaurs are some of the most enigmatic theropod dinosaurs due to their unique adaptations to aquatic environments and their relative scarcity.

Undated handout artist impression of a diplodocid. Researchers have found the first evidence of a respiratory infection - potentially with flu-like symptoms - in a dinosaur that lived 150 million years ago. The discovery made in the fossilised neck bones of a young diplodocid - a young long-necked sauropod dinosaur like Brontosaurus, allows scientists to better understand the illnesses that affected the animals. Issue date: Thursday February 10, 2022. PA Photo. The herbivore, nicknamed "Dolly", was discovered in 1990 in south-west Montana in the US, and walked the Earth in the late Jurassic Period.
