Eddie has quite a case on the landlady's daughter, Victoria, and she tries to smuggle him at least one meal. This plan is given away by the janitor, who goes and tells the landlady. Eddie and Victoria then think out a clever scheme. The janitor takes the landlady's pet poodle, which is her inseparable companion, out for a walk. Eddie, disguised as a bad man, arranges a fake hold up and robs the janitor of the poodle. Frightened half to death, the janitor rushes back to the boarding house, being preceded by Eddie, who secretes the dog in his room. Leaving him in charge of Victoria, he goes downstairs and hears the terrible story told by the janitor. Eddie tells them he knows where the bad man is and offers to recover the poodle. He leaves, gun in hand, and goes to the back yard. Victoria lets the poodle down from the upstairs window and Eddie fires a few shots from his revolver. He then rushes back to the house and restores the poodle to the landlady. After this incident he becomes a guest of honor at the boarding house and board bills are forgotten.
