An outbreak of bird flu (H5N1) has occurred at a premises in Angus, the Scottish Government has said.

On Friday night, the Scottish Government revealed it had implemented a 3km protection zone around the area, located in Kirriemuir, after highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was reported.

A 10km surveillance zone has also been declared.

The premises, according to the declaration published on the Scottish Government’s website, is Over Ascreavie House, Kingoldrum, Kirriemuir.

The restrictions put in place stop the movement of poultry, carcases, eggs, used poultry litter and manure to prevent any further spread of disease.
