Cyberpunk 2077 may have launched in a sorry state in 2020 (at least on console), but its rebirth has been legendary. The game saw dramatic updates and patches, and the Phantom Liberty DLC from last year was fantastic, too.
While we know a sequel is in development, and that's likely some time away from seeing the light of day, developer CD Projekt has shared some news on the live-action adaptation.
The project is being developed with Anonymous Content, but we're still waiting to hear whether it'll be a TV show or a movie - but we now know it's "still in the conceptual stage."

Cyberpunk's live-action project not coming soon
Speaking in a Q&A session for the company's earnings results, joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski explained that the project remains in the conceptual stage (thanks, VGC ).
“I mean, the conceptual stage has various stages of advancement, so we’re for sure further in than we were a year ago, but we’re also not yet at the stage where we would be shopping around the concept to potential streamers or studios,” he explained.
“I’d say it’s probably a similar window between here and now as was between when we announced it about a year ago and today, so within that window I would expect we’re going to get to shopping [it] around.”
While the live-action project is seemingly some time away, there's good news - CD Projekt is partnering with Netflix for another Cyberpunk animation project.

The last collaboration between the two, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, was well-received by fans and critics alike, but we don't know if the new project will also be helmed by Studio Trigger, or if it'll tie into Edgerunners.
Speaking alongside confirmation that the game has sold 30 million units and Phantom Liberty had hit 8 million, CD Projekt's Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz said “I’m also very happy to announce that we’re working on another animation project set in the Cyberpunk universe, which will be released on Netflix.”
