Luton Town are pushing to sign Isaiah Jones from Middlesbrough this month, with the winger struggling for game-time on Teesside.

Though Jones was still training with Boro on Wednesday, the Hatters are believed to have concrete interest in signing the 25-year-old this month. It comes after reports recently suggested Jones was looking to leave Boro in January due to a lack of matches in the first half of the season.

Jones has fallen down the pecking order at the Riverside after a difficult couple of years and has started only two games since September due to the emergence of loan star Ben Doak from Liverpool. Though there remains uncertainty surrounding Doak's future, Boro appear open to selling Jones this month providing the price is right.

Boro currently have a full squad of 25 players registered with the EFL and in order to strengthen their own options in the transfer window they will have to move players on. While they're desperate to keep certain star players like Doak and Emmanuel Latte Lath, it's clear that other players in the squad could be seen as dispensable at the right price.

Though Jones remains a popular player at Boro and someone who Michael Carrick regularly turns to in games from the bench, particularly when Boro have a lead to defend, his struggles in recent years mean Boro are unlikely to block a move if that's what he decides is best for him. They have strong forward options, with Marcus Forss back in training and Micah Hamilton able to play on the right.

Elsewhere, Boro have scouted Peterborough Town striker Ricky Jade Jones, but have no concrete interest in signing the 22-year-old at this time. In a month where there is uncertainty over Latte Lath's future, they have a list of potential targets of which Jade Jones is believed to be on, but right now they aren't in a position to sign a striker unless there's a significant development over Latte Lath.

It comes as Boro were named as an interested club by Peterborough Today after Cardiff City boss Omer Riza confirmed interest in the striker who has 11 goals in 30 appearances this season. Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony said a top-ten Championship club had contacted them about the 22 year-old.
