Laser Science Projects

Each year Laser F/X receives a number of requests for information from students who are doing science projects involving lasers. Laser light shows represent one of the most visible applications of lasers and certainly the most entertaining use of lasers. This section is designed to provide some information and resources for science projects.

We are not going to do your work for you! If you are hoping to find a complete paper you can download, print and use you are out of luck. What we will provide are resources to help you research your laser science project.  These include a bibliography, a glossary of terminology used in laser displays, information on other applications of lasers, basic laser safety information, and a listing of selected educational laser resources on the Internet.

We also have pages with suggestions for high school science projects involving lasers.  The projects vary in complexity and the parts needed to do them; from simple to more advanced.  The simple projects require a minimum of parts and equipment, while the advanced projects require some knowledge of electronics.
Please note that while we provide information and hints on the projects on these pages, we can not provide any additional information or the solution(s) on how to complete the project(s) by E-mail [teachers excepted] so please do NOT contact us asking for further information.  Finding the answer yourself is far more rewarding that having someone hand it to you..

We also provide a page of  images and drawings you may use in your projects provided you follow the rules on that page.

NOTE:  Some students have written to us requesting information on Holography [making 3D photographs with lasers].  We do not cover that topic since we focus on laser shows.  An excellent resource for holography information is Holoworld.com

If you have any suggestions for improvements, or would like to contribute a project idea, please contact us via the on-page E-mail below. If this area has helped you to complete a science project, or your have an interesting project you have completed, let us know by e-mail.
