CELEBRATING ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY AT BECA Time flies when one is having fun! Indeed, it has been a year since I return to the industry after 5 months off work. I am indeed having fun and when you are having fun, you don't notice the time. So, how's Beca? Most common question. Over the year, I have found an organisation that is so invested in its people creating an environment of stability, safety and ability for staff to grow, explore and be connected. Yes, large organisation. No, one don't get lost in it. Why? because the leaders make sure your are well looked after, investing in your growth, providing you opportunities to develop all aspects of your career. And the consequence is creating a great team culture. Team mates who are willing to play together to strive for a common goal. An incredible diversified team and talented to add. We do great things across several sectors with a huge pool of talent. I hope our clients will get a chance to experience our brilliant and talented team in time to come. My job is to open the doors for our team and for our clients. Every large company need structure, governance and processes. So long as these do not hinder one to do their job. Leaders should not forget that.There is no perfect company to work for. What matters is our self awareness, attitude, willingness and have the ability to voice opinions, concerns and be heard. Beca is providing me the opportunity to make a difference for our team, to guide, to develop and grow their careers. Day 2 at Internship Experience UK 2024 Keeps Impressing!🎉✅ Today's second session was led by Marie Fukuura, Commercial Controller, Off-Trade, Premium Retail at Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I. Her talk was incredibly insightful. Marie presented a straightforward strategy: 1. Lead & Grow the Category 2. Digitize & Monetize the Ecosystem 3. Optimize the Business Despite challenges like lockdowns, shortages, instability, and inflation, beer remains a beloved and affordable product across all demographics, thanks to one of the world's largest B2B platforms. Budweiser's commitment spans safety, inclusivity, and sustainability. In-depth research shapes their portfolio priorities: expanding World Lager while rationalizing Standard Lager, highlighting the significance of a winning portfolio in the dynamic brewing industry. Aileen Nathan, Senior Sales Director at Mondelēz International, followed with a product masterclass on storytelling: Shell eggs make up 53% of total Easter sales—243 million RSV—purchased by half of UK households. Emphasizing sustainable ingredients, social impact, climate action, and eco-friendly packaging, consumer research, and collaboration led to innovative packaging: a chocolate shell egg for mini eggs, eliminating 28 million plastic pieces and 400 tonnes of cardboard. Improved palletization fit 40% more consumer units per pallet, cutting over 25,000 pallets processed. These innovations, returning to a proven format, resonated deeply with consumers who loved it! In addition to the informative sessions, we had valuable networking opportunities with professionals from PwC, AlphaSights, British Airways, Budweiser, ICAEW, and Nestlé. Engaging face-to-face allowed me to ask insightful questions, providing a deeper understanding of various industries and enhancing my experience. The conversations were incredibly helpful, offering practical advice and unique perspectives that will be invaluable as I move forward in my career. To cap off the day, we were introduced to a work sample exercise that provided a hands-on experience of the tasks and challenges faced in these industries. This practical component was enlightening, allowing us to apply the insights and strategies discussed throughout the sessions. ☕Every month at ITPEnergised (part of SLR), we hold a 'Graduate Coffee Morning' where we have internal and external speakers join our graduates for an hour of inspiration and knowledge sharing. This month's Graduate Coffee Morning was a fantastic blend of inspiration and creativity! 🎨☕ Michael McKeown shared his insights on the importance of stepping out of comfort zones and being comfortable with making mistakes. But it wasn't all serious learning; the last 15 minutes of the session gave the graduates a chance to tap into their creative sides and have a little fun. Embracing our company value of curiosity, our graduates unleashed their imagination by designing their own unique monsters on Miro. It was a wonderful way to channel creativity, embody the spirit of innovation and get to know each other a little better. These gatherings are more than just meetings; they're a celebration of growth, learning, and the fun that comes with exploring new ideas. Day 2 of the Bright Network Internship Experience Today’s sessions were filled with impactful learning from industry leaders, reinforcing the importance of resilience, innovation, and sustainability in our careers. Laura Tye, Legal Director at Clyde & Co, shared invaluable advice on building resilience and seizing opportunities early in our careers. Key lessons included: - Staying resilient and avoiding complacency - Cultivating curiosity for continuous growth - Embracing flexibility as careers evolve Victoria Stedman from British Airways discussed BA’s focus on fostering a collaborative team environment and tackling challenges such as geopolitical conflicts and climate change. Insights from Nestlé graduates Daisy Thompson and Juetong Liang highlighted the critical role of sustainability in the food sector. They emphasised: - The significant environmental impact of food systems - Addressing social issues such as child labour and gender equity - Innovation in research, product development, and sustainability practices Aileen Nathan from Mondelēz International emphasised the power of storytelling in product innovation, with a focus on sustainable ingredients and smart packaging that significantly reduces plastic and cardboard use. It was amazing to hear about their story of the Easter egg and its link to sustainability. Charles Frost at AlphaSights shared insights on redefining B2B sales through a unique approach combining codified and human knowledge, connecting global leaders with the expertise they need to thrive. A massive thank you to Rachel Delaney, Head of B2C Marketing at Bright Network, for hosting today’s enlightening sessions. These insights are particularly relevant to my role with the Exeter Global Visionaries Society, where we focus on global issues and innovative solutions. The knowledge gained today will be invaluable in our discussions and projects aimed at driving sustainable and impactful change. As I continue my internship this week, including the current project with British Airways' "BA Better World" sustainability initiative, I am eager to apply these learnings and contribute to meaningful projects that align with my passion for sustainability and global impact. Companies & youth. More than 10 years ago Nestlé launched Youth initiative program that is held yearly, giving the opportunity for students to join the sessions, get more details on potential career opportunities with Nestlé, in particular to be the first working place for many students. I remember my student times back to 1997-2002 when none of the companies offered such opportunities of entry position to get fist experience. I am the part of this initiative from the very beginning, for me it is important to share my personal experience and exchange thoughts with the community of students, giving them wide perspective of potential first steps, roles and horizon of opportunities. This year I continue to contribute to this initiative via two directions. Firstly, having in team two interns – coaching, on the job practice and real projects and operational routines with set buddies in the team - this perfectly works for young specialists. They get knowledge, practice and grow step by step. One remark here – each person can take as much as he/she is motivated to cover. Secondly, Summer’s Cool which was held in July where I covered one of the sessions. It was my sincere pleasure to network with students all over SEE geographies and navigate them in potential career opportunities in sales and eCommerce in particular. I would like to thank my colleagues from Talent Acquisition team Olha Vovk Anzhelika Bondaruk Milica Maslarevic who invited me to join this year initiative. It was fun with positive vibe and at the end high score of feedback from the audience. And together we did a great event for students. 🚀Second day of Internship Experience UK 2024 at Bright Network – Part 1! ✅Laura Tye from Clyde & Co has kicked off the keynote talking about her personal and professional hardships and progression. Her story was very inspiring to hear as she talked about her journey with changes in careers and countries. She is such a positive and resilient female role model, who has definitely inspired me! ✨The takeaways from Laura’s speech: -       Resilience is key: setbacks make you more determined -       Be eager to further learn -       Changes in the set career are okay – just work where you feel happy The main event was hosted by fabulous Rachel Delaney! ✅The first speaker for the main bit was Victoria Stedman, Commercial Colleague Engagement Manager at British Airways. The commercial vision that Vicky oversees encourages a happy united team that delivers the best revenue while providing an exceptional service. The challenges that British Airways run into include geopolitical conflicts, closure of air space, etc. She also mentioned the new £7bn transformation plan that aims to turn the costumer experience on its head to make sure complete customer satisfaction. 🔗Overall, Victoria has showcased her passion in working for British Airways, achieving a lot in the just 18 months that she has been with the company. She sure made it appealing, when she mentioned the new graduate programme (and obviously the flying perks). ✨The takeaways from Victoria’s Q&A: -       Do not be afraid to ask questions and being curious. -       Commercial sector looks for attitude and potential capabilities, not specific previous experience. -       Open-mindedness is one of the key value of BA. -       Technological advances are used to gain feedback and improve. -       Do not allow AI to replace your voice. ✅The second session was conducted by Daisy Thompson, Sales Sustainability Lead (Past Graduate), Juetong Liang, Product Technology Engineering Graduate, from Nestlé. 🔗Daisy spoke about sustainability in the food sector, specifically environmentally and socially. She mentioned Nestle UK&I sustainability strategy that focuses on the climate change, sustainable sourcing, packaging and communities. Their initiative in working with consumers is very appealing as they have a strict plan to execute sustainability goals. 🔗Juetong spoke about R&D organisation, particularly its structure and roles. He proposed that making the journey from idea to reality is a methodical, multifunctional cooperation effort. He also mentioned Nestle’s approach to innovation as great ideas are always heard by Nestle! ✨The Q&A takeaways -       You can find your niche even as a graduate. -       Nestle recognises their sustainability responsibilities. -       Nestle argues you can balance both sustainability and profitability. 1 picture 📸 2 generations 🐣 4 nationalities 🇳🇬🇵🇪🇲🇺🇬🇧 Last month, we had the opportunity to welcome Taariq Vawda from University of Dundee and Rachel Egny from University of Bristol at Bamble as part of our Marketing Team, thanks to Pagoda Projects. I have to say that I feel lucky and grateful that they chose Bamble for such an important decision in their careers. Landing your first job is not always easy; we all might relate to that feeling if we look back 😅. Not all companies are prepared to welcome interns due to the structure and support it involves, and nowadays, it is not unusual to see a job description for a junior role that says “Min XX years of experience” (I know, it must be frustrating 😩). Having them on the team made me reflect on a couple of things: - ❤️ Importance of purpose : During this time, they showed me how much value purpose brings and how relevant it was for them when choosing us. The vision and mission of your company can definitely help you attract great talent. - ⭐ Skills that matter :It’s true that hard skills are required to perform a task with a certain level of complexity; however, some soft skills can make a difference, like the ability to learn fast, communicate, and adapt to different situations. - 🌎Diversity does make a change :Having 2 generations and 4 nationalities in 1 team has definitely pushed the boundaries of creativity. I was amazed by the quality of ideas that came out of each session. - 🔑🔓Be open to learning from everyone : As leaders, we should guide, it’s true, but most importantly, we need to listen and learn at every level. I have to say I have learned more about social media, communities, and interaction in the last 4 weeks with them than in the first half of the year by myself.

In 2001 I arrived fresh-faced and naive in my first ever “proper job” as a grad trainee at L'Oréal … It was a fairly intense and hierarchical culture back then and at points I found it hard… … I remember a “senior” manager (must have been all of 26 years old looking back but hey…) took me aside and said: “Listen - I’ve worked out it takes an average of 14 “no’s” before you get a “yes” around here. So …uh…don’t take it personally”. From then on I only started getting really excited once I’d got to “no” number 12… Call it stubbornness… Or call it resilience… But if you set your mind to something worthwhile it’s not going to get done without passing through a few “no gates” first. So whatever goal you’ve set for 2025… Keep going.
