Having played David Platt on Coronation Street since he was just 11, Jack P Shepherd is one of the most recognisable actors in the UK.
But behind the scenes, the star - who turns 33 today - was suffering a private torment when his thinning hair affected his mental health.
At one point, he even considered quitting showbusiness over his insecurity.
But in October 2019, the star revealed he'd undergone a hair transplant nine months earlier.
"I had to do it to protect my mental health," he said of the procedure.
Unveiling his new 'do on Instagram, he added: "9 months it’s been since I had my hair transplant, this is the first time I’ve compared pictures to what I used to look like.
"I decided to get it done as it was affecting my mental health. To the point where I considered giving up acting and not being in the public eye."
Pictures showed Jack lying back in a chair as doctors implanted 3,000 hairs into his scalp in an attempt to halt his dramatic hair loss.
Co-star Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs and has had a hair transplant of his own, commented: "Looks brilliant mate and it helps so many people who feel just like you did, just letting them know they have options!"
Pal Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster couldn't resist winding him up.
She said: "2 Days Later “DARLING .. YOUR HAIR LOOKS AMAZING!!!” Hahahahaha"
His fans were happy he didn't end up jacking in his day job.
One said: "Glad u didn’t give up u r a brilliant actor."
And another told him: "so glad u didn’t give up acting you’re incredible."
