Top chef Gordon Ramsay has shared exactly when you need to start cooking your Christmas dinner for a super easy, stress-free day. Spilling the beans with The Jonathan Ross Show, Gordon explained how he ensures Christmas Day goes off without a hitch. In the video, which was also shared to TikTok, Gordon said: “Top tips to make sure your Christmas Day goes down as a huge success - prep the day before.”
He also recommended getting all the family, including ‘uncles and aunties, grandmas’ peeling the veg, and then once it’s all been peeled and chopped, part-boiling it, so that it’s easier and quicker to cook the next day. Gordon added that there are other ‘simple tricks’ that can help to ensure you’re as organised as possible for the big event, including knowing when to start cooking the turkey, which is something that a lot of people tend to struggle with.
The celebrity chef explained: “Everyone worries about that turkey. Honestly, first thing, half past five, six-o’clock in the morning, put the oven on low. Nip back to bed for a few hours, and get yourself a plan with an ABCD, 10 o-clock, 11 o’clock.” He added that it’s important to not let ‘the stress’ get to you, and instead to focus on enjoying the day. He said: “Stop worrying about calling lunch too early. Push it back to three or four o’clock.
"That way, you don’t stress out. You’ve got to enjoy it as well.” Gordon added that serving Christmas dinner later in the day allows you to enjoy a more leisurely Christmas morning, leaving time for a nice breakfast and the chance to build your appetite up for the 'main event' later in the day.
