Manchester City had a late start to pre-season preparations in regards to everyone else but things are fully underway now, with their next test of the summer coming against German giants Bayern Munich in the United States this weekend.

City began their tour of the US with a 2-1 victory over Mexican outfit Club America on Thursday in what was their first game for almost 2 months, where Kevin de Bruyne’s first half double was enough to sink their opponents.

But they are expected to face a much tougher test here when they take on the Bundesliga champions, who began their own pre-season tour with a thumping 6-2 victory over MLS outfit D.C. United in Washington in midweek.

When is Bayern Munich vs Man City?

Bayern Munich vs Man City will kick-off at 12am (BST) on Sunday, July 24 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The last meeting between these two sides came back in July 2018 in yet another pre-season friendly in the United States, as Man City ran out 3-2 winners at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami as part of the International Champions Cup tournament.

Meritan Shabani and Arjen Robben had the German outfit 2-0 ahead after 24 minutes, but Bernardo Silva’s strike on the stroke of half-time got City back into the game. Lukas Nmecha levelled the scores in the 51st minute, before Silva got his second of the game with 20 minutes to play to turn the tie around.

Team news

Bayern’s victory over D.C. United in midweek was their first game for more than two months and tonight’s clash with Man City already represents their final warm-up game before their season starts, meaning that Julian Nagelsmann can be expected to name a strong lineup as he looks to get his side in perfect shape for the new season.

Sadio Mane started and scored just five minutes into his debut for the club just a few days ago and will be expected to start from the off here, while fellow new signings Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch also appeared off the bench. However, Leon Goretzka (knee) is out, while star striker Robert Lewandowski has departed for Barcelona.

As for City, they are also preparing for their final warm-up test of the summer in what is just their second friendly, as they begin their season next weekend with the FA Community Shield, meaning Pep Guardiola is also likely to field a full-strength side here, although some rotation can be expected throughout the game.

Stefan Ortega and Julian Alvarez made their debuts against Club America, while Kalvin Phillips featured off the bench. Erling Haaland was an unused substitute, but could very well be in line to start here. Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias (illness) are out, while Phil Foden, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan are all unavailable after failing to meet the USA entry requirements.
