England captain Harry Kane came off injured just 33 minutes into Bayern Munich's 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund.

Kane, 31, went down off the ball shortly after the half-hour mark, with the Bayern striker appearing to have an issue with his hamstring. Thomas Muller was brought on as his replacement, with the German heavyweights already 1-0 down to their Bundesliga rivals.

English winger Jamie Gittens had put Dortmund ahead on 27 minutes, slotting home after running the entire length of Bayern's half. Jamal Musiala eventually hit back for the visitors with in the 85th minute, with former Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise providing the assist.

The result keeps Bayern top of the Bundesliga table, seven points ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt, but Kane's injury will be cause for concern for boss Vincent Kompany. Bayern have a huge game on Tuesday as they face reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal (the German cup).

Kompany's side had won their previous seven games without conceding a single goal before heading to Dortmund, including a 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League this week. But Gittens' early goal put them on the back foot, with Kane unable to be part of their comeback.

The 31-year-old will be assessed ahead of the clash with Leverkusen and it won't be the first time that he's been ruled out with injury this season. In October, Kane missed England's Nations League defeat to Greece because of an injury to his right leg.

Post-match, Kompany revealed: "Harry's feeling is that it may not be something too serious. But we will have to wait. He will have to do a scan and then we will know more. But obviously it will be tight for Tuesday. I don't know many players who can recover that quickly."

Kane became the quickest player to reach 50 Bundesliga goals earlier this month, having needed only 43 games to break Erling Haaland's record. The Tottenham legend is still waiting for his first piece of silverware since joining serial winners Bayern, who went trophy-less last season for the first time in 12 years.

He doesn't plan on leaving Germany any time soon, telling the Sun in October: "I'm really enjoying it [at Bayern]. "I am learning [the language] and doing two lessons a week. I have a good teacher at Bayern. For me it is difficult but hopefully I will be there for many years and at some stage will be able to talk a bit of German."

Kane, who has three years left on his contract, added: "For now, it's about trying to achieve things here and trying to push myself and the team to try and reach new levels with this club. That's all my focus is on right now."
