Harry Kane may have netted his first hat-trick as a Bayern Munich player on Saturday, but it will not be recognised as such by some in the land he now calls home.

The former Tottenham talisman was at his prolific best for the Bundesliga giants during their dominant 7-0 home win over Vfl Bochum. It took just 12 minutes for the England captain to score his first, before Kane capped off the stellar individual performance with two more goals in the second-half.

However, quite crucially in this case, it must be noted that there were two scorers between his first and second goal, and one between his second and third. After Kane's first had put Bayern 2-0 up, goals from Matthijs de Ligt and Leroy Sane made it four.

The 30-year-old then stepped up from the spot in the 54th minute to fire home a penalty, his second and Bayern's fifth of the afternoon. 27 minutes later, Mathys Tel notched the Bavarian's sixth - seven minutes before Kane could get his third and the club's seventh.

In turn, Kane's treble is not recognised as a 'true' hat-trick in Germany. To score what is known as a 'true' hat-trick, one must score three goals in the same half and score them consecutively, with no one else bagging in between.

Kane was clearly delighted with his efforts and was allowed to collect the match ball come full-time. Shortly after the game, he got the ball signed by his team-mates and tweeted a picture, alongside a caption that read: "A new one for the collection! What a team performance."

Harry Kane scored three for Bayern Munich - but it is not deemed a hat-trick in the Bundesliga

Kane has hit the ground running since his £104million move from boyhood club Spurs in the summer. The Three Lions skipper now has seven Bundesliga goals in five outings and also managed to score against Manchester United in mid-week during the 4-3 Champions League group stage win at the Allianz Arena.

For all of Kane's impressive goalscoring exploits with his new club, he recently revealed that it is him that's been left stunned by some of the talent he is surrounded by. He named Jamal Musiala and Thomas Muller as two team-mates that have caught his eye.

"Jamal has been fantastic," Kane told TNT Sports. "There's been a lot of talk about how good he is and how young he is. He's been great to watch in training and in tight areas how he moves and how he plays forwards. He's been fantastic to play with so far."

He went on to add: “Thomas Muller, how intelligent he is. People from the outside sometimes don't appreciate these types of players who are just one step ahead in the brain compared to the rest of the team."
